An agreement to form the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO) has been signed by representatives from 29 countries in Shanghai. This new independent intergovernmental entity is set to spearhead global efforts in fostering collaboration on artificial intelligence.
With its headquarters in Shanghai, WAICO is tasked with enhancing global AI governance and promoting international partnerships. The founding countries of WAICO include Kazakhstan, Laos, Pakistan, Russia, Indonesia, and China, among others. These nations are coming together to support a framework that encourages cooperation and harmonizes efforts to address the complexities and opportunities AI presents.
WAICO’s mission includes fostering collaboration among its member states and refining the global governance of artificial intelligence.
