The Philippines has announced the continuation of its 14-day visa-free entry program for travelers from Taiwan, extending the initiative until June 30 next year. This policy, initially introduced last year, is designed to boost tourism and enhance cultural exchanges between the two regions by allowing Taiwanese citizens to visit the Philippines without obtaining a visa for short stays. However, those intending to remain in the country beyond the 14-day period will still need to apply for a visa beforehand.
This decision aligns with the Philippine government’s strategy of maintaining reciprocal visa agreements, as Taiwan similarly grants visa-free entry to Philippine passport holders. By extending this program, the Philippines aims to bolster tourist numbers from Taiwan, one of its key international visitor markets.
The Philippine government is also working on expanding flight options and promoting a broader range of tourist destinations. While Palawan remains a popular attraction, efforts are underway to highlight other regions and unique travel experiences across the country to entice more Taiwanese visitors.
Tourism statistics reveal that nearly 94,000 Taiwanese tourists visited the Philippines in the first five months of the current year. This figure marks an increase compared to the same timeframe last year, underscoring Taiwan’s significance as a leading source of international tourists for the Philippines.
