Chinese President Xi Jinping has embarked on a visit to Cairo, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the long-standing relationship between China and Egypt. As he was welcomed by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his wife, Xi underscored the significance of their 70-year diplomatic ties and expressed a desire to deepen the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership.
In anticipation of his visit, Xi highlighted the enduring bond between the two nations despite global changes, urging a renewed focus on aligning their major national development goals. Moreover, Xi emphasized the importance of continued mutual support on significant issues and safeguarding shared interests, positioning Egypt as a crucial partner in bolstering ties between China and both Arab and African nations.
As both countries hold pivotal roles as members of the Global South, Xi advocated for closer coordination on international matters, increased support for multilateral cooperation, and joint efforts to promote global peace and stability. This visit is anticipated to further enhance political and economic ties between Beijing and Cairo, opening up new avenues for cooperation in trade, infrastructure, technology, and other sectors.
Reaffirming China’s commitment, Xi expressed readiness to work alongside Egypt to build on the seven decades of diplomatic relations, giving fresh impetus to their comprehensive strategic partnership.
