This charge is aimed at imports from international platforms like Shein, Temu, and AliExpress, which previously enjoyed duty-free status. The fee is designed to address concerns about unfair competition and the exploitation of customs exemptions that allowed these foreign retailers to offer products at significantly reduced prices.
The new fee structure stipulates that each distinct customs classification within a single shipment will incur a separate charge. Consequently, packages containing a variety of product categories will face multiple fees, whereas shipments with identical items will only be subject to a single €3 charge.
